Workout Blog Carnival - December 1, 2008

Welcome to the December 1, 2008 edition of workout blog carnival. Did you survive Thanksgiving? Did you eat too much? Well, the holidays are upon us, in a little over 3 weeks we’ll be staring at more food. In that spirit, I have decided to include more food related articles to give you um er FOOD for thought (okay, I admit that was bad).

Andy presents Tomorrow Never Comes - Start Losing Weight Now or Never posted at Weight Loss Window, saying, ““I’ll start eating healthy tomorrow” or “I’ll start exercising tomorrow” are probably two of the biggest weight loss lies you can tell yourself. I’ve used those lies myself way too many times, and guess what? Tomorrow never comes.” Workoutebooks’ 2 cents: How many excuses have you come up with when it comes to dieting? Here are some of the common ones and some suggestions on sticking to your weight loss plan.

Andy presents Stop Stress Eating Tips posted at How To Stop Eating - Stop Binge Eating, saying, “Notice how on stressful days the temptation to eat a lot of food is very strong? Maybe you find yourself reaching
for comfort foods and junk foods…” Workoutebooks’ 2 cents: If you suffer from binge eating, you might identify with stress being one of the typical causes. This article presents some thoughts by a person who dealt with a stressful job and the effect it had on his eating habits.

Aparna presents Facial exercises posted at Beauty & Personality Grooming, saying, “Here is a collection of some easy-to-do facial exercises. These exercises are for specific areas of the face. Start by practicing in front of your mirror until you have all the movements firmly in mind. Do these exercises easily with concentration but without deliberate, intense movements. Don’t do these exercises for more than 5-10 minutes a day, more may stretch the skin.” Workoutebooks’ 2 cents: I would not have thought of a workout for your face? I wonder if you can do this while you’re doing cardio or an exercise bike? Hmmm!

Joan presents Spin Sisters, I Salute You posted at Mothers on the Brink, saying, “An out-of-shape mom remembers her first Spin class.” Workoutebooks’ 2 cents: Spinning, as I understand, is a killer workout. Think of a group of people riding exercise bikes under the direction of an instructor. You go faaaaast, you go up hillllls, etc. Well, rather than read my ramblings, check this article out about a first time experience.

Jimson Lee presents Dynamic Warm Up vs. Static Stretching Controversy posted at Speedendurance.com, saying, “A look at the differences between static stretching and dynamic stretching in the Warm-up, including the benefits of microstretching.” Workoutebooks’ 2 cents: I find it hard to believe that some people do not stretch! I know for a fact at the YMCA I attend, I see several people enter the gym and immediately start working out. Read this article for in depth information on the benefits and differences of stretching and warm up techniques.

fitness

muscleandbrawn presents Guide to Amino Acids posted at Steve Shaw’s Muscle and Brawn., saying, “Understanding Amino Acids for health and supplementation”  Workoutebooks’ 2 cents: Interesting and informative article on the different types of Amino Acids available to you today. You should do your homework before you buy any workout supplements and this article is a good start.
